HOUSTON – Today, Alexandra del Moral Mealer, a Republican candidate for Harris County Judge, releases statement on six Grand Jury indictments handed down for Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo staffers.
“Today’s indictments are also an ethical, moral and political indictment of our County Judge, Lina Hidalgo.
Lina assured us, six months ago, on camera in an open meeting, that there was nothing improper about the $11 million Covid contract awarded to a tiny partisan consulting firm with no discernable experience in vaccines whatsoever. This seemed corrupt on its face, but she quickly cancelled the contract and tried to move on.
Fortunately, the Texas Rangers and prosecutors kept asking questions, and now the truth is really going to come out.
And we are all waiting to see if more indictments are coming. Lina Hidalgo has lost the moral authority to lead the county. She must resign.”
Alexandra is a West Point graduate, a dual-degree holder from Harvard University (JD/MBA), and a proud wife and mother. She is blessed with two precocious toddlers who she is raising alongside her husband Clay, a fellow West Point graduate and combat veteran. On November 11, 2021, she announced her plans to leave the private sector and her career in oil & gas finance to pursue a new stage of service.
