Harris County – Today, Alexandra del Moral Mealer, a Republican candidate for Harris County Judge, released the following statement as authorities executed a search warrant for Harris County administrative buildings in connection with the controversial $11 million COVID-19 communication contract cancelled by Lina Hidalgo:
“This controversial deal never passed the “smell test” and it occurred over 6 months ago, yet Harris County taxpayers still don’t know the truth,” said Alexandra. “Time and time again, we see that Lina Hidalgo prioritizes political patronage over the interests of Harris County. This is shameful behavior by our County Judge. It shouldn’t take subpoenas to force Lina Hidalgo to tell the truth about an $11 million contract given to a political crony. Leadership starts with accountability – it can’t always be someone else’s fault. At least voters will have the chance to replace Lina this November.”
Alexandra is a West Point graduate, a dual-degree holder from Harvard University (JD/MBA), and a proud wife and mother, blessed with two precocious toddlers who she is raising alongside her husband Clay, a fellow West Point graduate, and combat veteran. On November 11, 2021, she announced her plans to leave the private sector and her career in oil & gas finance to pursue a new stage of service.
